Phuket X Expedia
13 June 2015
If you have been on my Instagram, you would know that I went to Phuket recently and I have decided to make a travel vlog to share with you guys! Especially since a couple of you have been asking me to do videos for the longest time (I heard you guys…!!!) so I have decided to use this opportunity to try out! Know that I have zero knowledge on filming and video editing so everything was taught by my favourite Google so please be kind and show some love!
This is actually my very first trip to Phuket so I was really excited and have no idea what to expect but you know what they say…. Unplanned trips are the best and this trip to Phuket was sort of…unplanned. Well, it was a pretty impromptu one so nothing much was planned but I had hella fun!
Upon reaching the our beautiful resort – Boathouse By Montara. Sun, sand and sea, here I come!
It’s a pity that I’d forgotten to take more pictures of the hotel but I did a room tour in the video so you can still take a look there. But can I just take a moment to say how awesome the room is?! I love the bed and bathroom the most!
Amazing view just right outside our resort. Wouldn’t want to trade anything else for a moment like this with this boy aka my photographer who I trust the most! Don’t think I’ve said it enough but…thank you! :)
Dinner was at Boathouse Wine & Grill and we had a feast! The view, the ambience and the service was impeccable. Watch the video to see the feast that we had!
Took a lil stroll around our neighbourhood after dinner and even though we were SO stuffed by dinner, how can anyone resist Thailand’s 7-11 food?! Our favourite gotta be the toasted ham & cheese sandwich…. Oh my. All that cheesy goodness. So. Damn. Good.
Lobster & eggs Benedict! Such an interesting combination, right?
The next morning we woke up early to have our breakfast at RE KA TA Beach Club. And of course, we were accompanied by a view. We were watching people surfing, paddle boarding, paragliding and mostly just people having fun by the beach and in the sea. Such a wonderful way to start our day!
Took a stroll after brunch before our surfing lesson and we came across this abandoned, wrecked ship. Anyone knows what happened to this ship here?! So anyway, I was sitting down for a photo op and halfway through, the waves came (the waves at Kata Beach are SO strong by the way) and I was soaked from waist down. My poor phone got damp and I couldn’t use it almost the entire trip too :(
Then we spent some time in the sea with these two super patient surfing instructors. Oh my god guys, I had SO much fun!!!! Surfing is definitely not easy but the satisfaction and joy you get when you manage to stand on your surfboard is indescribable.
Went for a massage after and changed into this lovely dress from Neonmello before heading out to Kan Eang @ Pier for really yummy thai seafood dinner!
I will show you guys what else we ordered in the video but this HUGE, fresh, juicy prawns here were definitely the highlight of the dinner. Or at least they were my favourite, followed by their Tom Yam Soup!
Gorgeous place calls for a photo op! I would recommend coming here earlier when the sun is about to set so you’ll get an even nicer backdrop but I guess night lights weren’t too bad as well…?
The next day we got up super early for our ATV ride! I swear it was mega fun but a little tip for you guys: Try to wear long pants if you can and SPAM your mosquito repellant. I got bitten so many times and also had a small burn mark on my calf because the engine was just beside the accelerator and I was burned by the heated engine so many times….oh well.
It was my first time in Phuket and it is definitely not going to be my last! I am really glad to be given this chance by Expedia to experience what Phuket has to offer. It was brief but just the break I needed. Through this trip, I have also learnt that not only can you book your air tickets and hotels on Expedia but you can rent cars and book your activities directly from them too, so it is really convenient because you can just settle and book everything at one go. Flexibility to customize my own holiday means a lot to me especially during times when I have a preferred airline to fly with, hotel to stay in or activities to do. It is also sometimes cheaper to book everything at one go because Expedia might have some package deals going on so another tip for you: Definitely do your homework aka price check before any trip!
And in this time and age, I am pretty sure everyone depends on their mobile phones so another thing that I really appreciate is that, they have their very own mobile app and the good thing about it is you get to save up to 40% when you book hotels through the app!!! I get to read reviews from actual hotel customers as well so that definitely make bookings a lot easier.
So what about the itineraries, you may ask? Well, just like on desktop, you have the ability to send anyone your travel itinerary or you can even add it straight onto your phone calendar. They also provide real-time itineraries with notifications so you get to check your real-time flight status with gate and terminal details, directions and hotel check-in/out reminders… You know the necessary details you will definitely need to remember when travelling.
So I guess the convenience I got from booking with Expedia was also one of the reasons why this trip went so smoothly and I had a great relaxing time! Some say travel is the only thing you can buy to make you richer and I can’t agree more. Now, enough of talking… Hope you enjoy the short clip!
Can’t wait to make more videos for you guys the next time! <3
